The same God - spring 2026

In these last months, God has spoken a lot to me about His character and the idea that He doesn't change. He is the same God in the Bible as today. I don't know about you guys, but I have found it so easy to forget that, especially when it comes to miracles. We read about so many miracles in the Word and we forget that He still does miracles today, that God is the God of miracles, the God that provides.

God remains constant, he is immutable. Immutability means that God is unchangeable in every way. This includes His nature, His character, His purposes, and His promises. In Psalms 102:25-27 it says "Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end." God's nature does not change. This shows the impermanence of creation, but the perfection and eternity of God. God cannot improve or diminish in any aspect of His nature. He is perfect, and this consistency extends to Jesus. Hebrews 13:8 says that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

God's character does not change. God is good, loving, just, faithful, merciful, omnipotent, omnipresent, and so much more. God being immutable is the foundation of His character and His faithfulness. "If we are faithless, he remains faithful - for he cannot deny himself." 2 Timothy 2:13. Even though we fail, doubt, or stray away, God continues to be who He is. He will not fail in His love, His truth, or His grace because His essence is immutable. His love doesn't change according to our behavior: He doesn't love us more when we do things right, or less when we fail. His truth doesn't change with culture or with human opinions: what God has declared true remains so. His grace doesn't run out or depend on how much we deserve it: it remains available because it comes from a constant God.

Even though us as humans are inconsistent and disobedient in our relationship with God, this does not compromise God’s faithfulness. Our inconsistency further highlights the consistant nature of God. I think of the entire Old Testament and the people of Israel continually turned away from God and worshiped their own idols and gods, and yet God showed His love through His goodness and judgment and the people always returned to Him in the midst of adversity. Where we are variables, he is firm. Where we break promises, he fulfills them. His just and faithful character responds in a consistent manner. He will always love us, He will always take care of us, He will always fulfill His promises. What Jesus did on the cross for us will not change. He died and resurrected so that we can be forgiven and we can come to God and receive His love and peace. That will never change.

This truth has profound implications for our lives:

• We can wholly trust in God because He will not change

• We can rest in His love

• We can persevere in our faith, because even when we feel weak, God remains faithful

God’s immutable character is the basis of all our trust in Him. If God could change, we would not be able to rely on His promises. But precisely because He does not change, our hope in Him is secure.

I have seen God work in incredible ways these past few months in my life and in the lives of those around me. He provided 1 million euros for the hotel that is now the new base of YWAM Costa Tropical. He gave me a church in which I feel at home, in which I feel seen, and also gave me a group of friends centered on Christ. I've seen so much growth in the seven students on our discipleship training school. We did our first youth encounter in the new base and it was a wonderful time, even with the language barrier. He moved in incredible ways at the "Venga Tu Reino" event with more than 1500 youth attending and over 70 accepting Jesus into their hearts. There is a revival happening in Spain and all over the world. God moved and worked in biblical times and he continues to move and work today.
