Is prayer primary in your life?

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Something God has been highlighting to me in this season is the importance and power of prayer. Prayer was PRIMARY for the disciples and apostles, especially seen in the book of Acts. It was a regular practice (Acts 1:14, 3:1), it happened both individually and corporately (Acts 1:14, 4:24, 10:9, 12:5), it happened in all circumstances and spots (Acts 7:59, 16:25, 21:5), the waiting was filled with prayer (Acts 1:14) and all throughout, prayer preceded decisions and acts of God (Acts 14:23, 12:5).

God calls us to pray without ceasing but what does that look like? It is living with a constant awareness of God and a heart surrendered to Him. When our thoughts turn to worry, fear, discouragement, and anger, we are to consciously and quickly turn every thought into prayer and every prayer into thanksgiving. When prayer is absent, we begin to depend on ourselves rather than depending on God's grace. To pray without ceasing is to live in constant dependence on and communion with the Father.

In my own experiences, I've seen how praying without ceasing has helped me grow so much closer to God. This last fall I went back to the states for a month and it was a beautiful time with lots of prayer. Praying for my mom who had a breast cancer diagnosis over the summer and a lumpectomy surgery mid September. The prayer was answered with a successful surgery and a steady recovery. Praying over difficult conversations that I had to have with some family members, which was answered with forgiveness and conflicts resolved.

Fall Fest

Or coming back to Spain the middle of October and praying for a successful Fall Fest at the end of the month which ended up being so well received with 400 people coming for games, crafts and listening to the Gospel. Praying over a period in November where I was struggling with anxiety and fear, which was met with God reminding me that He

loves and accepts me just as I am and that is more than enough. Praying over my time in Mucel, Mexico with my church team at the end of the

year, which was answered with a week full of overwhelming joy, growth in relationships, and beautiful conversations and memories.

Praying over the hotel we are currently fundraising, which we have raised almost $700,000 for and have yet to raise $479,000 more to close on February 5th but God is already answering prayers through incredible donors and an overflowing of love and support. (If you feel led to give to this God-sized vision here you will find more info)

Through all of it I've been able to see God's faithfulness and overflowing, unconditional love. Through prayer I rejoice in Him and give thanks to Him for all that He has done in and through me. He is so good!

So, my question to you is, is prayer primary in your life? Are you seeking after Him in all circumstances? In the waiting, in decision making? Is it a regular practice for you? If not, I encourage you to seek after Him. Talk to Him. We have this freedom that we so often take for granted of His mercy and grace that we can come to Him with all our baggage, all our worries and anxieties, and He will comfort us and embrace us with His love. He will answer because He loves. May this year be a year full of seeking after God, and Him answering your prayers His way.

Blessings,

Zetta
